Khang is 8 years old and already understands what it means to show up for someone you love.
His mother left when he was very young. His father works far away and is rarely home. It has been Khang and his grandmother ever since, the two of them figuring it out together while she takes on whatever daily work she can find to keep him fed and in school.
After class, instead of playing, Khang follows her to work and helps with whatever small tasks he can. At such a young age, he does it without being asked.
In the classroom he listens carefully and tries his best. He does not complain and does not ask for much. There is a quietness to him that his teachers notice, and behind it a gentleness that is hard not to root for.
When asked about his dream he smiled and said he wants to study hard so he can make his grandmother's life easier.
